The Origin of "Super Seven" Amethyst
The amethyst known as "Super Seven" in the market is also referred to as "Sacred Seven" or "Melody Stone." The latter is named after Melody, the famous American author of crystal-related books.
Melody, an internationally best-selling author, holds a Master’s degree in Mathematics. As a scientist residing in Colorado, her extensive understanding of both metaphysics and mineralogy has inspired and catalyzed worldwide interest in her work. She has traveled extensively across the globe and has been invited to host comprehensive crystal workshops, private consultations, and lectures on awareness.
The above is a brief introduction taken from her official website. She is the author of the
But why was Super Seven Amethyst once named after her? According to records, around 1995, Brazilian miners showed Melody a type of amethyst with numerous inclusions. At the time, it was deemed "low quality and impure" because it did not meet the gemstone market's standards for clarity. After studying the stone, Melody believed it possessed an extremely high spiritual vibration and identified seven minerals within it. Since I cannot find her specific book introducing Super Seven, I am uncertain whether she identified these seven minerals "energetically," as some online sources suggest, or through scientific testing.
This also reminds me of Brazilian Lemurian crystals. It is said that when they were first unearthed, someone brought them to Katrina to sense. She likely identified the Lemurian energy and related information, then wrote about and praised these crystals in a specific issue of a publication. Consequently, they were named as such, and their prices began to soar.
Based on its initial discovery, the original location of Super Seven Amethyst is the state of Espírito Santo, Brazil. Currently, many similar amethysts from other origins circulating on the market also use "Super Seven" as a marketing name. However, it is said that in strict Western collecting circles, only those from the original Brazilian location are considered the authentic, original "Melody Stone."
It is said that later on, Melody even applied for a trademark for "Super Seven." The trademark registration information can be found here: https://trademarks.justia.com/771/61/super-77161940.html
In fact, Melody also registered trademarks for other crystals and minerals. It suddenly occurred to me that she, much like Robert Simmons, enjoys trademarking things XD. Then it dawned on me why Heaven and Earth (H&E) doesn't sell Super Seven, but instead sells its sibling — Auralite 23.
The "Seven" of Super Seven Amethyst
Continuing with those market definitions, Super Seven Amethyst is considered powerful because it is recognized as Elestial Quartz containing seven minerals: Amethyst, Clear Quartz, Smoky Quartz, Cacoxenite, Goethite, Lepidocrocite, and Rutile.
However, renowned mineral websites and scholars have pointed out that finding these seven minerals—especially "Cacoxenite"—simultaneously within a single small crystal is geologically extremely difficult. Modern testing shows that the golden yellow tufts often called "Cacoxenite" are most likely Goethite, Lepidocrocite, or other iron oxide-related substances like Hematite. True Cacoxenite is extremely rare to find forming inside amethyst.
In summary, I saw on the website of a well-known gemstone identification center in Taiwan that the Super Seven crystals they tested mainly contained inclusions of Lepidocrocite, Hematite, and other iron ores, with some containing Rutile. This happens to coincide with the Super Seven amethysts in my own collection. Most of the pieces I have collected years ago, as seen in recent photography, primarily feature these three types of inclusions: Lepidocrocite, Hematite, and Rutile (please refer to Video 1 and Video 2 below). Of course, this only represents a specific batch from a certain origin; I believe that different batches from various origins will still exhibit different internal inclusion states.
As for the crystal body of Super Seven Amethyst itself, some internal sections may be transparent or smoky. This is likely why people in the past claimed that Super Seven contains Clear Quartz and Smoky Quartz. However, I might not express it that way. I would rather say that the quartz base of Super Seven contains coloring ions for Amethyst and Smoky Quartz; depending on the concentration of these ions and the degree of natural radiation, it manifests varying degrees of purple, smoky tones, or even a colorless state.
Consequently, some people jokingly remark that most Super Sevens should probably be called "Super Three" or "Super Four."
In summary, from the market and academic perspectives of that time, Super Seven was identified as a variegated quartz with numerous internal inclusions and impure colors, mostly regarded as low quality. On Mindat, it was even described as "a low-grade piece of coloured quartz." (Laughs)
Stepping away from these market or academic values and returning to the spiritual world of crystals, I feel that Super Seven Amethyst is a crystal with exceptional energetic frequencies. According to the information they convey, they are sufficient to form an independent group that transcends the amethyst family. Naturally, they also carry certain traits of the amethyst family, which is inevitable, as how something manifests in the material world corresponds to its characteristics in the energetic world to some extent.
This kind of amethyst (rich in internal symbiotic inclusions, especially iron oxides like Lepidocrocite or Hematite, and Rutile) originates from an ancient place. They have been dormant since the dawn of consciousness, awaiting the moment of their awakening. This is a new era, and the reason they have traveled across thousands of centuries to be here—New Life & New Energy. Of course, "thousands of centuries" is merely a description from the perspective of linear time.
I faintly sense that these internal inclusions were formed precisely to become powerful conduits and to amplify everything. No formation in the physical realm is without meaning; they always carry energetic significance and serve a broader, more expansive purpose.
One day, while holding a Super Seven Amethyst in each hand, I saw an inner vision of myself holding them together in front of my heart. A giant interlocking triangle surrounded me, and there was a circle on the ground. It felt like Super Seven crystals working in pairs, forming a kind of grid or formation. Although I am not yet certain what this brings, I received some information during the process regarding the connection capabilities of Super Seven. They can link to celestial or galactic information; Sirius is a prompt I keep receiving. Additionally, I saw them guiding me to place a Super Seven crystal before my third eye. As mentioned before, these inclusions enhance the pulsation of the third eye, likely boosting inner vision or intuition. They can also be placed on the heart chakra, which I believe would have excellent healing effects.
Zimbabwean Super Seven Amethyst
The Super Seven amethysts in this release are from Zimbabwe. This origin is characterized by rich internal inclusions and the presence of elestial and scepter formations. According to records, they mainly come from the Chiredzi district of Zimbabwe. Mindat records indicate that purple and smoky scepter crystals from this region have a history of at least twenty years. In the early days, they were hand-picked from the surface by the local indigenous Shangaan people; today, most are mined using drilling and blasting methods. Consequently, some people call Zimbabwean Super Seven "Shangaan Amethyst," which is commonly translated into Chinese as "尚加安紫水晶."
Indeed, in the Super Seven crystals of this release, we have observed a great number of internal inclusions and scepter formations. In Video 1 below, the red rod-like structures are the abundant iron oxide inclusions, such as Lepidocrocite or Hematite. The golden filaments in Video 2 are Rutile, commonly known as "Golden Rutilated Quartz," provided here for your reference.
PS. Rutile, the crystals are mostly columnar or needle-shaped, and a few are cone-shaped or equiaxed. There are often growth stripes parallel to the long axis on the surface of columnar crystals, while needle-shaped crystals are often wrapped in transparent crystals, commonly known as hair crystals. The main component is titanium dioxide, and often contains small amounts of iron, niobium and other ingredients. In nature, those with pure quality are transparent and colorless. If they contain impurities, they will show other colors. Among them, dark red or brown red are the most common, and yellow or black are quite rare (later, the black silver titanium on the crystal market was also found to contain iron. Rutile, maybe this is rare?). There are three main polymorphs of titanium dioxide, namely rutile, brookite and anatase. Rutile is widely distributed, while brookite and anatase are relatively rare.
Furthermore, we do not chase after the specific Super Seven origins defined by Melody. If any crystal has its own mission, it will develop corresponding characteristics, and these traits may appear in many different locations. Therefore, not only in Brazil, but also in Zimbabwe, Madagascar, Mozambique, and other regions, crystals of this similar form have appeared. I believe they share a similar nature of work to a certain extent.
